Polaris Transport Carriers Recognized as a 2023 Trimble Ovation Award Winner

As we announced last year, a number of Trimble’s transportation and logistics customers were recognized in our 2023 Ovation Awards for their innovation and industry leadership. And with those awards, we had the opportunity to speak with the winners to discuss their business, the technology behind their innovation and how they’re growing toward the future.

Polaris Transport Carriers was honored with a win in the category of “Automation All-Stars: Best in Improving Overall Efficiencies.” This award highlights companies that have harnessed various technologies—including Trimble solutions—to automate business processes, eliminate paperwork and reduce the time spent on routine tasks.

Founded in 1994, Polaris is a family-owned and -operated transportation company and freight brokerage best known for their scheduled LTL service between the US and Canada, as well as industry-leading transit times to and from the US. Polaris also founded NorthStar Digital Solutions in 2019, a state-of-the-art digital lab focused on using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to enhance operations and unlock efficiencies. 

We recognized Polaris for their innovative combination of their back-end operational systems with Trimble’s TruckMate TMS, using AI-powered automation and ML-powered document processing to quickly extract order and customs information from documents and streamline order processing. In addition, Polaris integrated a blockchain hyperledger via numerous APIs to push and pull contracts between partners, reducing the human labor needed for invoice reconciliations. And finally, Polaris paired all of these capabilities with a driver application built for mobile shipment tracking and electronic manifest and document capture, and which connects every process to TruckMate TMS, so it can be used as a centralized billing system. 

With these new efficiencies, Polaris was able to reduce the time their team spends on routine tasks, such as sending out order confirmations and customs broker packages for freight border clearances. These tasks, which would previously have taken hours or days, now take only minutes, resulting in reduced overhead and increased revenue. Order entry, customs clearance, quoting and more have all achieved higher efficiency and a 99.9% accuracy rate.
