Foodliner Recognized as a 2023 Trimble Ovation Award Winner

As we announced last year, a number of Trimble’s transportation and logistics customers were recognized in our 2023 Ovation Awards for their innovation and industry leadership. And with those awards, we had the opportunity to speak with the winners to discuss their business, the technology behind their innovation and how they’re growing toward the future.

Foodliner was honored with a win in the category of “Masters of Uptime: Best in Keeping Assets Up and Running.” This award celebrates organizations that have implemented Trimble solutions to increase uptime, reduce maintenance costs and maximize the utilization of their equipment.

Part of McCoy Group, Inc. founded in 1958, Foodliner is the largest Bulk Food Grade carrier in North America, with major operations across the United States as well as Mexico. With a large fleet of 800+ company-owned vehicles varying in type and equipment, it became more complicated over the years to track their fleet’s maintenance needs and plan operations around asset management.

To address this challenge, Foodliner implemented a wide range of Trimble solutions, including Trimble Instinct, TMW.Suite and TMT Fleet Maintenance, to automate their operational decision-making, customer notifications and maintenance tracking and performance. The actionable insights produced by this combination of solutions, combined with a data-driven preventative maintenance program, helped keep their fleet of vehicles operating at maximum efficiency.

“Our goal was to make sure every piece of equipment was given the due diligence it deserved through scheduling and preventative maintenance, with the scheduling curbed to the specific units and equipment involved without having to manually update the schedules,” said Matt Glusha, Transportation Technology Special Projects Manager at Foodliner.

By centralizing driver reports, equipment data and asset utilization in one place, Foodliner now plans accordingly when a vehicle needs routine work or critical repairs. On average, they are now doing fewer oil changes and preventative maintenance actions per asset per year, resulting in greatly increased their uptime. Foodliner’s diligence and dedication to optimizing their performance with the help of Trimble’s solutions has boosted them to a new level of success.

“We have found the perfect balance in keeping the fleet up and running to be able to service all of our customers, while simultaneously being able to save on long term maintenance and cost of ownership,” said Galusha of their winning achievement. “Keeping our finger on the pulse of our equipment allows us to schedule maintenance while avoiding downtime and keeping the fleet flowing seamlessly.”
