Crete Carrier Corporation Recognized as a 2023 Trimble Ovation Award Winner

As we announced last year, a number of Trimble’s transportation and logistics customers were recognized in our 2023 Ovation Awards for their innovation and industry leadership. And with those awards, we had the opportunity to speak with the winners to discuss their business, the technology behind their innovation and how they’re growing toward the future.

Crete Carrier Corporation was honored with a win in the category of “Platform Powerhouse: Best Example of a Transportation Power User.” This award recognizes organizations that have realized tangible, dollar savings by successfully implementing technology to achieve results throughout their operations.

Since being founded in 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska, Crete Carrier Corporation has grown to be one of the largest trucking companies in the world, with more than 5,000 tractors and 13,000 trailers throughout the continental United States. A fleet of such size depends on technology solutions that can optimize every stage of the business’s daily workflows, as the traditional ways of managing orders, routes, dispatch, navigation and payment cannot effectively scale with demand.

It can be a challenge to keep the fleet and its drivers working at their best without the right tools. That’s why Crete Carrier Corporation turned to Trimble to deploy a suite of solutions that provide their drivers and back office teams with the most efficient, connected operational experience possible.

“Our business goal was to provide a best-in-class experience for our drivers. Something that was easy for them to use, intuitive, flexible enough for us to be able to put a customized workflow in front of them,” said Jeremie Kerkman, vice president of Crete Carrier Corporation.

To achieve this goal, Crete Carrier Corporation has implemented a wide range of Trimble solutions, including the Instinct driver and back office workflow solution, Innovative TMS, CoPilot commercial navigation and more, to provide drivers and staff more efficient workflows, reduce paperwork, streamline navigation and optimize order processing. They’ve also been able to incorporate fuel stops into their routes and better connect their third party applications to their Trimble solutions.

Crete has been a major leader in integrating Trimble solutions into a singular transportation and logistics experience and using that increased functionality to evolve the driver experience. “With this new platform, we finally feel like we’ve got the right foundation to be successful,” added Kerkman.
